Rajini not fit to resume Rana's shooting

Superstar Rajinikanth, who fell ill on the sets of Rana during its first schedule in April this year, returned to Chennai from Singapore last month. But he is apparently not fit enough to commence shooting either in September or October. While Rana director KS Ravikumar initiallymaintained that they plan to start shoot by the end of September, later it was suggested that the film might start in the first week of October. Now, sources contend that since Rajni hasn’t recovered completely, the shooting is likely to start only in November.

When contacted, Ravikumar confirms, “Yes, we are likely to start shooting from October end or november beginning. Things aren’t finalised because Rajni sir is yet to fix up the dates. We have shifted the dates a bit because he isn’t absolutely fit yet. In fact, I am meeting him twice a week to finalise things.”

Also, since Rajnikanth is keen to perform all the major stunts in the film himself, makers don’t want to take any risks by rushing him into the shooting. Rajni, ever since his return to India, has remained elusive since his doctors don’t want him to entertain visitors, fearing it will only worsen his health. Apparently, Rajni is staying away from the limelight at his eldest daughter Aishwarya’s house with actor son-in-law Dhanush and their two children, Yatra and Linga.
Rana is a period action film, which Rajni has written himself, and has an estimated budget of over Rs 150 crore. The film also stars Deepika Padukone, who has already given open dates for the film to the makers.
