After playing the love interest of Shahid Kapoor, an Air Force officer in Mausam, Sonam Kapoor, who was in the Capital on Saturday, says that she empathises with defence WAGS (wives and girlfriends) all over the world. “I play a ballet dancer in the film, and I eventually get involved
with someone who is in the Air Force. You have to be a different person to handle that. That made me empathise with a lot of people in the country... people all over the world who have husbands, boyfriends, brothers in the forces ... sometimes, you have to be stronger than the men themselves.” In terms of patience, she means. “I think waiting is the most difficult thing. You don’t know where they’ll get posted. When you’re married, they are away for long periods of time. I read a lot of such stories,” she says.
The actor goes on, “They look handsome. Like men among the men. Especially with all these metrosexual men around, you want a (real) man. You feel they are fighting for a good cause, so there’s a whole fascination. There’s some mystery and romanticism about them.”
How does she rate her co-star Shahid? “He looked great, but only after my dad (Anil Kapoor) in Pukar!”
